Getting used to certain numbers

For more than the first 60 years of my life, the numerical figures for a particular year began with a one and a nine.  You might think that 24 years is more than enough time for a person who develops habits quickly to get used to a 2 and a 0 starting the year number but it still feels a little "wrong" to depart from 1 and 9.

Between 1935 and 2023: Eggs experienced an average inflation rate of 2.40% per year. This rate of change indicates significant inflation. In other words, eggs costing $2.14 in the year 1935 would cost $17.25 in 2023 for an equivalent purchase. Compared to the overall inflation rate of 3.59% during this same period, inflation for eggs was lower.

None of my friends have advocated continuing with 19 as the first two numerals of the figures for the year.  No one has complained in my presence about the loss of one dollar or less for a gallon of gas.  Still, I think we should get started on the problem now.  Don't you?  Let's call this year "Walter" and not use that name for any other year, ever.

I am still working with my economist friends on prices.  They are more complicated.
