Wired magazine keeps track of all sorts of valuable and interesting ideas and I get snippets of a post in their many blogs on my blog. Today, I saw a snippet that lead me to this Wired article: How to Get Unlimited Talk,Text and Data on an iPhone for $30 a Month. It is copied from The Tech Block, where it appeared originally.
The article lists three ingredients, one of which is Google Voice. As with Kindle, I urge people to try Google Voice, not for the voice capability but for the texting side of the service. For some users, there is nearly no difference between email and texting but for others, email is cumbersome or out-dated while texting is great.
The article I am highlighting in this post discusses ways to have a good iPhone arrangement for relatively low cost. For our communication needs, Tracfones work well. We have great coverage and nearly zero dropped or unusable calls for about a $20 a month for both of us combined. There is no contract and you can buy extra minutes from the phone or online. Our phones can receive text pretty well and send it cumbersomely but have no internet ability.
