We are back. Central California is a lovely, friendly place. We liked San Luis Opisbo when we stayed there. This time, we stayed outside of the satellite town of Arroyo Grande in a very well laid out house that Lynn found on VRBO.
Many people have heard of quite unusual snow in California but we saw none and experienced none. It is in the high mountains, not where we were.
Air travel for us means challenging times since we are out on a branch of the main flights. So, we typically have to get up at 3:30 AM to get to the local airport for an early flight to a bigger airport and a bigger plane. We aren't pleased with waking and moving at that hour. It doesn't do my marriage any good to leave the alarm fixed so that Lynn is awakened the next day at that same time by the alarm. Anyone in the market for a used husband?
We brought home plenty of laundry. We still have snow all over and it may snow again tonight. Spring is wished for at many points of the winter, but it is a turbulent time of change and storms as well as buds and bugs.
We knew we would have a long layover in between flights but it passed quickly. A young mother with a nearly two year old daughter was returning from a trip to Mexico to let the grandparents meet the child. The book "The Female Brain" by Louann Brizendine, MD got me thinking about those humans not built like me. I am impressed that the set of humans called "mothers" created 8 billion humans plus another 100 billion who have already lived and died and all of them made by Daddies a little bit and Mommies a very big bit. I am also fascinated by humans aged 0 to about 7 and their mental, physical and emotional abilities. I have read several smart, well-educated, thoughtful authors who, in my opinion, underestimated the brain power very young humans have. I guess it is easy to think that the training from parents and the teaching from schools forms the brain but, to me, it is clear that biology and temperament as well as chance and fortune have enormous influence.
