Facebook and web pages

Let me quote from that wonderful set of writings, "Fear, Fun and Filoz" from August 6, 2016:

With multiple ways to notify people, we get problems.  The opening of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" tells the story of a local government unit notifying citizens that a highway is going to be built right through your house and the notice warning you and giving you time to protest has been on the village bulletin board for months!  It is not our fault if you don't keep up. But the more bulletin boards, summonses, warrants, emergency phone calls, voice mail messages, texts, social media notices and conversations, etc., etc, the more likely you got trouble.

You have probably heard of Covid-19, the virus.  It makes running a business difficult these days if you rely on customers entering your place.  Because of government rules and dangers of contagion, some businesses have closed. Some are open and some are in transition.  It can be helpful if customers can find out what's what. Not only are things different but they change often. It's only natural.  At first, we close. Then, we open and try curb service and email. Then, we analyze what we are doing and what people say about our procedures.  We see better ways and we try them. To try them, we have to experiment. Experiments often fail but once in a while lead to genuine improvement.

Some businesses have paid web people to create web sites for them.  Once created, the sites need to be modified when practice or prices change.  It is helpful if there is a single place to explain current practice and maybe a preview or warning of the next way of doing things.  Many businesses use a Facebook page but customers may not know that. Blogs and temporary sites can be created and modified quickly. "Blogger" and "WordPress" are two places to look into finding a way to post signage that keeps people abreast.  There are many other choices.

If the source of information is the open internet, search engines like Google Search can find them.  If the same place is used consistently, people know where to look for current information.
