Blog, web site for everyone

Yesterday, I pointed out the 3 by 3 set of nine dots on a Gmail page that easily lead to many Google tools and services.  This blog is created and appears on the worldwide web using the "Blogger" service, Google's free blogging service. A blog can be just about any sort of writing, video, sound files that you want.  Many blogs show that new posts are put up irregularly and rarely. But once you get in the habit of writing a message, it becomes a running record that just sits there. Your family and friends can get accustomed to seeing it and you can email posts to them. My blog is "Fear, Fun and Filoz" and you can find it by searching for it with Google or other searcher, such as Bing or DuckduckGo.

My approach is to use my blog for whatever is currently on my mind or happening in my life.  Of course, it is just a selection but it makes a good running record and a good place for people anywhere to check in on what is going on with me.

Google and many other companies also provide web site hosting.  My web site is "Kirbyvariety". The web site also can be found by searching but here is a direct link to it: https://sites.google.com/site/kirbyvariety/  I think of the web site as more of a storage cabinet or filing cabinet where information that is more permanent can be left and can be found on demand.  Neither the blog nor the web site is good for highly sensitive information that needs to be kept secure. Both are good for general information, personal reactions and ideas or descriptions, that sort of record.

I think that over time, you will be glad you have tinkered with having a blog and a web site of your own.  You can take them down at anytime. If you have a business card, having the web address of your blog and your web site on it makes sense.
