A friend just retired. I have been retired for more than a decade. I advised her to practice meditation. I have written about doing meditation many times in this blog. There is a search window for this blog in the upper left corner of the blog's web page. https://fearfunandfiloz.blogspot.com/ It's right beside a white B in a small orange rectangle.
When I write about meditation, I eventually come around to Eckhart Tolle and his books. The first one was "The Power of Now." Two more are "Stillness Speaks" and "Practicing the Power of Now." Tolle is different in his approach and his language. Most Americans, such as Jack Kornfield and Dan Harris and Susan Piver, refer to Eastern origins and ideas. Tolle takes a different path and a valuable one.
As far as I know, no other meditation advocate or specialist has had the support of Oprah Winfrey. Not only did she and Eckhart work together but they sponsored an online course of some sort that aimed at helping people learn what meditation is.
One of the things I really like about the Amazon Kindle ereader is that I can highlight parts that matter to me. The parts are collected by the related software and I can easily send a file of all the highlights of a book into my email. I can upload the file into my Google Drive and create a copy in Google Docs. I can copy the result and paste it on a web page in my Sites website called "Kirbyvariety". Like this:

Having trouble with this link but it works if you copy and paste it in your browser
