Improbable events
The book by the British mathematician, David Hand, called "The Improbability Principle" is a good one to read about things that are rare or seem impossible but happened. That same aspect, improbability, is what I get out of The Week magazine. It does have all the latest everyday news but that stuff I get from CNN, CBS. NBC and PBS. When the people who run a lottery honestly and authentically find they have chosen the very same set of numbers to win that came up the last time, they have a difficulty. If the same numbers are announced as winners, there will be shouts and doubts. If word gets out that numbers were rejected and redrawn, there will be shouts and doubts.
That sort of thing shouldn't happen but it does.
