A new Brookings report reveals that thousands of victims—mostly women and children—have been blackmailed by hackers into performing sexual acts online, but the lack of a federal sextortion law is, in many cases, failing to bring perpetrators to justice. Sextortion can lead to shame, self-hatred and disgust, and even suicide.
