Long-range observations

Lynn left to go to the hardware store but she planned to stop to confer with our son-in-law, the builder, first.  Five minutes after she left, the phone rang.  The ID said it was our daughter.  I answered,"is this really my daughter?"  Yes, it was.  Why was she calling?  Well, we are at a local lunch spot but Mom just rang our doorbell at home.  She was calling to see what Mom wanted.  I warned her that the story was elaborate and she said to just forget it.  She would call again when lunch was over and they were home again.

A similar thing happened when that couple and the two of us were in Hawaii.  Our greatgrandson and his dad rang my daughter's doorbell.  The video doorbell captures a video of who is at the door and dings phones of the homeowners, even when the door is in Wisconsin and the owners are in Maui, Hawaii.  If the smartphone connection is still live, it can be surprising for the bellringer to hear a familiar voice and a live explanation that sorry, we are far away and can't answer the door - what's up?

You probably know that video cameras can be very tiny and unlikely to be noticed, even while you are being viewed.  Smart cameras may be positioned to watch over houseplants and their state of dryness or other variables related to a household.  I have heard that London is very well covered in live cameras but people in the US are trying to catch up.
