Sound and videos

I am ready to talk about podcasts and videos.  Like books, people can listen or watch and then get together to react to the material.  Here are my notes for the talk: https://sites.google.com/site/kirbyvariety/media-for-personal-education

I learned that 300 hours of video are uploaded into YouTube every minute!

A person can look at what is popular and try some of what others like.  Use Google or another "search engine" to look for top 50 podcast or Youtube's most popular channels.  Many series of either sound or video will accept subscriptions so that a person doesn't miss anything that is produced.

There are podcasts of all sorts, over a million in all.  I just found today that the Library of Congress puts out quite a few.  The Search Engine Journal has a podcast.  If you have a hankering to listen to old radio episodes of Inner Sanctum or The Shadow, you can.  Use Google for old radio shows.  You can download 56 episodes of The Shadow for a price.  3000 episodes of The Lone Ranger are available.  When my daughters were teens, I thought they would get a kick out of an old Shadow program.  Only sound but it scared them.

We started remembering the 1963 movie "Irma La Douce" with Shirley McLain and Jack Lemmon.  We found it on Vudu.  It is funny in a dated way and it is  two and a half hours long.  We hope to get to the end before we have to pay a second time.
