600 lbs.

Lynn ran low on clay.  She buys it from various places and finds that some varieties are better to work with than others. It is heavy and somewhat delicate, at least as far as temperature goes.  She doesn't want a shipment to be frozen in some unheated warehouse on its way here.  She found that if she ordered a large order, the per pound cost was lower.  She ordered 600 pounds.

It came yesterday.  They told us to expect it in a semi-trailer truck but they could not specify the hour of delivery.  She wrote about the scary weight and size in her weekly family letter of activities.  Our son-in-law, and grandson-in-law and a greatgrandson all agreed to zip over and help with the boxes if we would call them.  We were happy to find that the semi that arrived was equipped with a cart that could extend long teeth under the palette and be pushed into our garage.

The two of us had had a worrisome night before the delivery.  We were quite happy that our son-in-law who lives a block away was able, with the driver to push and pull the cart into our garage.  We knew once the whole thing was in the garage, we could handle it if we had to.

Our grandson-in-law arrived and showed his strength.  The clay comes in 50 lb boxes, each containing two 25 lb boxes.  We knew we could cut open the boxes and carry 25 lbs. downstairs to her studio 24 times.  But our somewhat slim grandson-in-law picked two 50 lb boxes and took them down a flight of stairs, only to run up for more!  He performed that feat three more times!  Meanwhile, yours somewhat truly carried one box down and breathed heavily to recover.

In no time, our son-in-law and our grandson-in-law polished off the scary task. We are still smiling and radiating gratitude.
