Ugly food available

The CNN global climate quiz surprised me with its third most powerful factor to help our global warming problem.  That factor was for humans to eat more of the food that has been marked "cosmetically" unusable, that is, too ugly.  The quiz makers published an estimate that if we used more of wasted food, we could do something equivalent to removing 495 million cars from the roads.  The US has 268.8 million cars so that seems like a good move. I wrote about that information last Friday https://fearfunandfiloz.blogspot.com/2019/08/climate-change.html

Brad Riggs, a media specialist in the public schools of the Chicago area, kindly wrote that ImperfectProduce.com and MisfitsMarket.com were two firms that specialize in selling and shipping food that looks ugly or weird but is good to eat.  I looked up both of those sites and the first one showed a Twitter account. I opened Twitter and became a follower of Imperfect and was immediately invited to join additional organizations.

Mary Maller, a local food and climate advocate, emphasizes that our local stores also sell cosmetically challenged food, often at reduced prices.

I have something of a soft spot for less than perfect food, being somewhat cosmetically challenged myself.
