How to be confused

Try to answer basic questions about life and love.  It's hard to do and leads to being confused.

Try to understand the devices, processes and machines in your life and body.  It's confusing in the finest sense.

Stay alive for year after year.  Things will change around you, you will realize some have changed, some are changing and some are just the way they have been for a long, long time.  You will get confused.

Promise yourself you will avoid confusion.  Berate yourself severely if you detect any confusion of any kind.  This lead to deeper confusion.

You have to expect to falter at times.  The clouds will part and a shaft of bright, golden clarity will beam down on you.  Don't worry about it.  Just go into explanatory mode, getting clear as to why that ray at that time on such as you.  You will just feel yourself gliding back into at least a light state of confusion.  Savor it!

Many people find that without overly strenuous effort, they can spend most of their waking and their sleeping hours in blissful, colorful confusion.  That master psychologist Ogden Nash foresaw decades ago the pleasure to be had in the pursuit of boredom.  The pursuit of boredom can be an exquisite enjoyment, I grant you, but it is as a click of the fingers to a day at the circus when you really get into deep, spinning confusion.
