Wise Older Men Panel

With Easter, April 1 and other events, I have been hard put to keep up with this blog.

A big event for me was yesterday's Wise Older Men Panel (WOMP).  I have been having lunch with about 10 guys (it varies) for more than a year.  I thought the conversation was funny, bright and good to listen to.  So, I arranged a 90 period tomorrow from 4 to 5:30.  They are the WOMPs, the Wise Older Men Panel.  They have been described (by me, a member of the panel and the arranger of the event) as knowing all there is to know.  We were advertised to the LIFE (seniors semi-intellectual group) as prepared to answer all possible questions and to solve all problems that anyone has.  That may be a bigger claim than we were actually able to fulfill.  We requested April Fool's Day purposely.  We had no script and one of the members are unable to be there because of a family death.

I will write more about reactions, mine and others as the days go by.  So far, it seems to have been fairly successful.  A couple remarks have been made about the large number of people who signed up for the session, the good sized group that actually attended, and how many of the topics that came up had to do with aging, wisdom attained and the physical cost of reaching 70.  Several people in the group are in their 80's.  Death, the condition of young people's minds and social skill and the future also came up in several forms.  Some witty remarks were made and mutual respect and enjoyment of each other were evident.
